Macrobiotic Lotus Root Tea
- 3 tbsp Juice from grated lotus root
- 3 drops Juice from grated ginger
- 1 dash Salt
- 150 ml Hot water
- Grate the lotus root and ginger and squeeze out the juice to make the tea.
- In a small saucepan, add the juice from lotus root and ginger, add the water and a smidgen of salt (measured by scooping it with tips of two chopsticks), then bring to a boil.
- Drink up while it's hot.
- When you have a high fever (38C or more) and cough, it's best to drink fresh lotus root tea.
- For that, add 1 teaspoon of the juice from grated ginger and a tiny smidgen of salt (just a few grains scooped onto the tip of a chopstick.)
- Use the grated ginger as filling for oyaki rice pancakes or hamburgers.
