Fluffy Duffy for Bento
- 1 small rice bowl's worth Plain cooked rice
- 1 Furikake, soy sauce, mentsuyu, etc
- 1 Sliced cheese
- 1 Nori seaweed
- 1 Ham
- 1 Bonito flakes
- 1 Uncooked spaghetti noodle
- Mix the rice with furikake, soy sauce, or whatever else you like to color it brown.
- Wrap with plastic wrap and make the face and ears.
- (This time, I used furikake rice seasoning.)
- This is the side view.
- Since the ears are made thinner than the face, they should sit a little lower.
- Press a small well into the center of the ears.
- Stuff the bento box with cooled side dishes.
- Using a circular cutter, cut out two circles.
- Using a slightly bigger cutter than what you used in Step 4, cut out one oval from the cheese.
- If you don't have an oval cutter, you can cut out two circles and piece them together.
- Put the cheese cut outs on top of the rice ball from Step 3 and use a noodle to secure them into place.
- Layer the nose piece over the eye pieces.
- Cut out the face parts from the nori.
- Using a thin straw, cut out two small circles of sliced cheese to make the pupils.
- Cut a mouth out of ham and attach to the face.
- (You can omit this step if you like).
- If you are not adding bonito flakes, you are now done!
- If you're adding bonito flakes, use chopsticks or something similar to attach the flakes.
- I think it's easier to add the bonito flakes before you add the cheese parts.
- This is the no-bonito version.
- If you attach on some eye lashes, you can also make Shellie May.
