Soup
- 7 cups water
- 1 tablespoon thyme
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce, tamari or to taste
- 1 can tomato sauce 16 ounce
- 1 can tomatoes 16 ounce, diced
- 1- 1/2 tablespoons pearl barley
- 1 teaspoon salt and black pepper or to taste
- 7-8 each potatoes medium, peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes
- 1 pound ground meat
- 3-4 each carrots cut in half and in strips
- 1 stalk celery chopped
- 1/2 each onions medium, big pieces
- 2 each winter squash italian, unpeeled sliced
- 1 each sweet red bell peppers cut
- 1 can green beans or corn as desired
- Brown meat with salt and pepper to taste.
- Start heating water, add potato, thyme, tomato sauce and diced tomatoes.
- Drain meat of fat and add to pot.
- Add barley and bring to boil then throw everything else in and cook until potatoes are tender.
- Taste for seasoning as you go.
- Keeps well and tastes better the next day.
