Homemade Baked Beans
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 200g rindless bacon, diced
- 1 large brown onion, sliced
- 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 400g tinned tomatoes, chopped
- 250g dried haricot (navy) beans, soaked overnight
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon LEA & PERRINS Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 tablespoon french mustard
- salt and pepper, to taste
- 125g KRAFT Premium Crispbread
- Heat the olive oil in a saucepan and add the bacon, onion and garlic.
- Cook over a medium heat until the onion is golden.
- Add the tomato paste and tinned tomatoes, the drained beans, water, brown sugar, maple syrup, Worcestershire sauce, French mustard, salt and pepper.
- Simmer covered for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Serve with crispbreads.
