Fast French Onion Soup

• 5 12 cups low-sodium beef broth
• 1 cup caramelized onion
• coarse salt
• ground pepper
• country bread, sliced thick
• gruyere cheese, grated

1. Heat broiler.
2. Bring the broth and onions to a simmer over medium heat; season with salt and pepper.
3. Top bread with cheese and season with pepper; broil until toasted.
4. Serve soup with cheese toasts.
