Belgian Beef Stew Recipe
- 1/4 c unsifted all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 2 lbs beef chuck,cut in 1 inch cubes
- 2 lbs onions, sliced
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 1 c vegetable oil, divided
- 1 12 oz can light or dark ale
- 1 tbl soy sauce
- 1 tbl worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbl steak sauce
- 2 bay leaves
- 1/4 tsp thyme (optional)
- Combine flour, salt and black pepper.
- Coat beef with seasoned flour and set aside.
- Saute onion and garlic in 1/2 c oil in dutch oven for 8-10 minutes.
- Remove onion and garlic.
- Pour remaining 1/2 c oil in pan.
- Add beef and brown on all sides.
- Add onion and garlic, beer, soy sauce, steak sauce, worcestershire sauce, bay leaves and thyme to meat.
- Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer, covered for 2 hours or until meat is done.
- Or cook stew by baking at 350 degrees until meat is done.
