Basic Baked Custard Recipe
- 4 Large eggs
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 2 1/2 c. warm lowfat milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon grnd nutmeg
- Minced nuts or possibly raisins (optional)
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a 4 c. measure, stir Large eggs with a fork just to blend.
- Stir in sugar, warm lowfat milk, and vanilla.
- Place 6 (6 oz) custard c. or possibly 1 qt casserole in a large baking pan.
- Pour custard into c. or possibly dish.
- Sprinkle with nutmeg.
- Pour warm water into the larger pan to 1 inch depth.
- Bake 30 min for c. or possibly 45 min for casserole or possibly till knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
- Remove c. or possibly dish from water; cold on a wire rack, then chill.
- Serve with a sprinkle of nuts or possibly raisins.
- Yield: 6 servings.
