Chili Dog Bacon Cheeseburgers and Fiery Fries

• 8 slices center-cut or other lean, thick-cut smoky bacon
• 1 sack (16 to 20 ounces) crispy-style frozen French fries
• 1 pound lean ground beef
• 2 beef or pork hot dogs, diced
• 2 tablespoons chili powder (2 palmfuls)
• 1 tablespoon grill seasoning, such as McCormicks Montreal Steak Seasoning
• 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce (eyeball it)
• 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon hot sauce (eyeball it)
• 2 tablespoons ketchup
• Vegetable oil, for drizzling
• 4 slices deli sliced Cheddar cheese
• 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
• 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
• 3 tablespoons chopped chives (a handful)
• Coarse salt, to taste
• 1/2 cup chili sauce
• 4 kaiser rolls, split

1. Preheat the broiler to high.
2. Place the bacon on a slotted broiler pan.
3. Cook the bacon 10 inches from the heat for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, until crisp, and remove to a plate.
4. Adjust the oven to bake, setting at the temperature recommended on the package of fries, and bake the fries.
5. While the fries cook, make the burgers.
6. Preheat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
7. Mix the beef with the chopped hot dogs, chili powder, grill seasoning, Worcestershire, 1 teaspoon of the hot sauce, and the ketchup.
8. Form 4 large patties.
9. Add a drizzle of oil, once around the skillet, and add the patties.
10. Cook the burgers for 6 minutes on each side, then top each with 2 slices of bacon and 1 slice of Cheddar.
11. Turn the heat off, cover the pan with a loose foil tent, and let the cheese melt for a minute or two.
12. When the fries are extra crisp remove them from the oven.
13. Place the butter, the remaining tablespoon of hot sauce, and the garlic in a small dish and microwave on High for 20 seconds, then transfer the fries to a large bowl.
14. Toss the fries with the butter mixture and chives and season with salt.
15. Slather chili sauce on the tops of the split kaiser rolls.
16. Place the bacon-chili-cheeseburgers on the bun bottoms and set the tops in place.
17. Pile fries alongside and serve.
