Make Takoyaki in a Frying Pan
- 100 grams Cake flour
- 30 grams Katakuriko
- 1 tsp plus Baking powder
- 1 Egg
- 400 ml Water
- 1 tsp Soy sauce
- 1 tsp Dashi (I used powdered bonito stock)
- 1 tsp Sugar (or mirin)
- 1 dash Salt
- 1 Cabbage
- 1 Octopus (boiled)
- 1 Japanese leek
- 1 Topping (optional)
- Combine and ingredients in two separate bowls.
- Chop other main ingredients.
- Chop up the cabbage roughly.
- Mix in half of the water to .
- It gets lumpy, but keep on mixing.
- When it's mixed thoroughly, add the remaining water, egg, salt, and ingredients.
- Keep on mixing.
- Add Japanese leek and cabbage.
- Keep on mixing.
- Heat oil in a frying pan, and pan-fry the ingredients.
- Top with octopus.
- Cover the pan and pan-fry for 3 to 4 minutes on a medium heat.
- Now, don't be afraid, and flip it over.
- Remove the lid and heat for 3 to 4 minutes over medium or high heat to your liking.
- Not all takoyaki are round!
- Toppings (Sprinkle on top): Bonito flakes, aonori, and tempura crumbs.
- (Mix into the dough): Beni-shouga red pickled ginger, konnyaku, etc.
- Add anything and as much as you like.
