Basic Meatloaf
- 1 ounce onion soup mix (packet)
- 2 lbs ground chuck
- 2 eggs
- 14 cup water
- 1 23 cups catsup, divided
- 34 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar (dark if available)
- cooking spray (to spray the casserole dish)
- Combine all ingredients thoroughly in a bowl except for 1 cup of the catsup and the brown sugar (set those two remaining ingredients aside).
- Shape into a somewhat flattened loaf and lay it into a casserole dish that has been sprayed with the cooking spray.
- Mix together the remaining 1 cup of catsup and the brown sugar -- spread this over the top of the meatloaf.
- In an over pre-heated to 350 degrees, bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes, uncovered.
- At the end of baking, pour off any grease and allow to sit for 10 minutes prior to slicing.
