Mary's Special Bars Recipe
- 1 box German chocolate cake mix (Swiss chocolate)
- 3/4 c. butter, melted
- 1 c. minced nuts (or possibly sunflower seeds)
- 14 ounce. light craft caramels
- 1 c. semi sweet chocolate chips (6 ounce.)
- 1 sm. can evaporated lowfat milk (5 1/3 ounce.)
- Combine caramels and 1/3 c. lowfat milk in a sauce pan.
- Combine cake mix, butter, nuts, and rest of lowfat milk.
- Stir till dough holds together.
- Pat 1/2 of dough in 13 x 9 inch pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 6 min.
- Heat caramels on low heat, stirring constantly while dough cooks.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips and pour caramels over cooked dough.
- Dot remaining dough on top.
- Bake for 20 min at 350 degrees.
- Let cold completely before cutting.
- Add in anything which sounds good (coconut) before pouring caramel mix.
