Double Apple Squares
- 1 14 cups applesauce
- 1 cup all-bran cereal, 100%
- 12 cup butter or 12 cup margarine, softened
- 34 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 egg
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 12 teaspoon baking soda
- 12 teaspoon nutmeg
- 14 teaspoon salt
- 1 medium apple, unpeeled, shredded
- 1 cup pecans, chopped, divided
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- Combine applesauce and cereal.
- Set aside.
- Cream butter and brown sugar, until light and fluffy.
- Beat in egg.
- Blend in flour, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, salt and cereal mix.
- beating until smooth.
- Stir in apple and 1/2 cup pecans.
- Spread evenly in 13x9 pan.
- Combine remaining ingredients (1/2 cup pecans and 2 tablespoons brown sugar).
- Sprinkle over top.
- Bake at 375F for about 30 minutes.
- Cool on rack.
- Cut into bars.
