Totoro Rice Balls

  1. Before starting, prepare about 100 g of cooked rice mixed with 1 teaspoon of ground black sesame seeds and a couple pinches of salt.
  2. Adjust the ingredients to your taste!
  3. Round out the mixed sesame rice into a ball and put a circle of white rice on top.
  4. Wrap it all up in plastic wrap and adjust the shape.
  5. (Make the ears as well)
  6. Here are the other parts: For the black soot sprite, make a mini rice ball with eyes.
  7. The eyes are little circles of cheese topped with round pieces of nori.
  8. The nose is a little piece of nori.
  9. For the whiskers I used fried pasta.
  10. For the belly hairs, pieces of nori.
  11. I used these cutters to make the parts.
  12. Put the large rice ball (body) in the bento box.
  13. Secure the ears with pasta.
  14. Stick on the parts.
  15. It's a little round Totoro!
  16. Here's how it looks in the bento.
  17. You can also make totoro out of bread rolls like this.
