Black Bean Burgers
- 2 cans (15 Oz. Size) Black Beans, Drained And Rinsed
- 1 Tablespoon Vegetable Or Canola Oil
- 1 teaspoon Cumin
- 2 Tablespoons Finely Chopped Green Onions
- 1/4 teaspoons Garlic Powder
- 1- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 teaspoons Black Pepper
- 1/4 teaspoons Cayenne Pepper
- 1/2 cups Fresh Cilantro, Chopped
- 2 whole Eggs
- 1- 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (as Needed, You May Not Use All Of Them)
- Oil For Cooking

- In a large bowl, mash rinsed and drained black beans with a fork.
- (You can also use a food processor or whatever works for you!)

- Into the bowl with the beans add the oil, cumin, chopped green onions, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, cilantro, and eggs (or if you prefer you can use a flax seed/water mixture for vegan burgers).
- Mix together until it is creamy with a few small chunks.
- 3.
- Stir in the breadcrumbs just until the mixture is sticky.
- The mixture should stick to the spoon.
- Add more breadcrumbs as necessary.
- 4.
- Wet your (clean) hands and form the mixture into patties.
- You should be able to get about 8 patties out of the mixture.
- To freeze, wrap each patty individually in parchment paper.
- Seal them in a large freezer bag and place in the freezer.
- 5.
- To cook, preheat a cast iron skillet to medium-high.
- Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of oil to the pan.
- If the burgers are fresh, cook for 3-4 minutes per side.
- If using frozen patties, cook for 6-8 minutes per side.
- Add toppings as desired and enjoy!
