Herbed Green Beans

  1. Bring 1/2" of water to boil in a 10-inch skillet with lid.
  2. Add green beans; cover and simmer over medium-low heat until tender-crisp, about 8 minutes.
  3. Drain in colander.
  4. Heat oil in skillet over medium heat.
  5. Add shallots and sugar.
  6. Cook until softened and golden, about 2 minutes.
  7. Add salt, pepper, and green beans.
  8. Cook and stir until heated through, about 2 minutes.
  9. Remove skillet from heat and stir in lemon zest and basil.
  10. Spoon onto serving plate.
  11. Garnish with lemon wedges, if desired, and serve immediately.
