Nutty Caramel Layer Brownies
- 1/3 cup evaporated milk
- 1 (14-ounce) package caramels, unwrapped
- 1 cup Land O Lakes Butter, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 (4-ounce) bar Germans sweet chocolate, melted
- 3 Land O Lakes Eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1 (11 1/2-ounce) package (2 cups) milk chocolate chips
- 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
- Heat oven to 350F.
- Combine evaporated milk and caramels in 2-quart saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, 6-8 minutes or until caramels are melted.
- Set aside.
- Combine butter, sugar and brown sugar in bowl.
- Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy.
- Add melted chocolate, eggs and vanilla.
- Continue beating, scraping bowl often, until well mixed.
- Add flour; beat at low speed until just mixed.
- Stir in 1/2 cup chopped pecans.
- Spread 2 1/2 cups brownie mixture into greased 13x9-inch baking pan.
- Bake 15 minutes.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot, partially baked brownie; spread caramel mixture over chips.
- Spoon remaining brownie mixture over caramel mixture; spread.
- (Brownie mixture may not cover all of caramel mixture.)
- Sprinkle 1 cup pecans over batter.
- Continue baking 20-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted at angle in top layer of brownie comes out clean.
- Cool 15 minutes; refrigerate until set.
- Cut into bars.
