Oatmeal Raisin Bread

  1. Cover raisins with hot or boiling water and pour 4 cups hot or boiling water over oatmeal and let stand until lukewarm.
  2. Use 1 cup of the lukewarm raisin water, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 cup flour and yeast and let stand 10 minutes.
  3. Into the oatmeal, add 1/2 cup sugar, salt, vegetable oil and drained raisins.
  4. Add yeast mixture and start working in the sifted flour.
  5. The dough should be moist, almost sticky.
  6. Place in greased large bowl.
  7. Cover with warm damp towel and place in warm place to rise.
  8. When doubled, knead down and let rise again.
  9. Make into 4 loaves.
  10. Let rise until doubled (or above pan edges).
  11. Bake at 350u0b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
