Cheeseburger Broiled Dinner
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 c. fine dry bread or cracker crumbs
- 1/2 to 1 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. dark steak sauce
- 1 c. tomato sauce
- 2 cans (16 oz.) whole potatoes, well drained
- pepper
- seasoned salt
- 2 medium tomatoes, halved and seasoned with salt and pepper
- 4 very thin slices onion
- 4 thin slices sharp Cheddar cheese
- Set oven to broil.
- Mix ground beef, crumbs, salt, steak sauce and tomato juice.
- Lightly form into 4 thick patties; place on broiler pan rack.
- Arrange potatoes beside meat; dot with butter and sprinkle with pepper and seasoned salt.
- Broil about 4 inches from heat until patties are browned (3 to 5 minutes); turn.
- Again dot potatoes with butter; place tomato halves on rack beside potatoes.
- Broil 3 to 5 minutes longer, until meat is browned. Cover each pattie with an onion slice; top with a slice of cheese. Broil until cheese melts.
- Makes 4 servings.
