Traditional Applesauce (Or Pear Sauce)

  1. Place the apple chunks in a large, heavy-bottomed, stainless-steel pot.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients.
  3. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
  4. Simmer until the fruit becomes tender, about 20 minutes.
  5. Puree in a food mill or blender.
  6. Cool and refrigerate.
