Fried Cabbage...
- 5 slice thick bacon
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 medium onion (minced)
- 1 large head cabbage
- 1/3 cup water
- fry the bacon until crisp.
- I usually use a cast iron Dutch oven.
- should be about an inch of bacon drippings in the pan.
- cut up cabbage and discard the core of the cabbage.
- the oil should be on Med.
- stir the cabbage to coat the cabbage.
- wilt lettuce to about 1/2 its volume.
- add the onion, salt, and pepper.
- stir to mix.
- add the water and turn down to Med low... cover..
- stir every 10 minutes.
- let cook for 20-30 minutes, until cabbage is tender.
