Brunch Buffet Apple And Cheddar Strata Recipe
- Vegetable oil cooking spray
- 8 slc day-old raisin in 1/2" cubes oatmeal or possibly white bread
- 1 Tbsp. olive or possibly canola oil
- 2 x apples cored and diced
- 1/2 c. shredded reduced-fat Cheddar cheese
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 2 c. low-fat lowfat milk (1%)
- 4 x egg whites
- 2 whl Large eggs
- 1/2 tsp baking pwdr grnd cinnamon
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 375 F. Coat an 8" x 8" x 2" baking dish with cooking spray.
- Place three-quarters of bread cubes in dish.
- In a nonstick skillet, heat oil.
- Saute/fry apples till tender.
- Arrange apples and cheese on bread and sprinkle with brown sugar.
- Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together lowfat milk, egg whites, Large eggs, and baking pwdr.
- Pour egg mix into baking dish.
- Step 3: Sprinkle with a little grnd cinnamon and bake 40 to 50 min or possibly till puffed and golden brown.
- Tip: Allow to stand 5 min before cutting.
- NOTE: If you're a Cheddar cheese lover, this low-fat version of a souffle is just right for you.
- Bake till puffed and golden brown.
- Serves 4.
- Preparation Time: 12 min.
- Cooking Time: 40 to 50 min, plus 5 min standing time.
