Traditional Southern Cornbread Dressing Base
- 2 cups cornbread, crumbled
- 2 cups breadcrumbs, toasted
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 1 cup celery, chopped
- 12 cup bell pepper, chopped
- 4 tablespoons parsley, chopped
- 6 eggs, beaten
- 6 cups chicken broth
- salt and pepper
- Leave the corn bread out a few hours to stiffen up or use it the next day.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large bowl mix all the above ingredients.
- Pour into a greased baking dish.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 1-1/2 hours or until golden brown.
