Almond Syrup Recipe
- 4 1/2 c. -Water
- 20 ounce Almonds, grnd
- 6 c. Sugar, up to 7 c.
- 3 Tbsp. Bitter almond extract
- 2 x Oranges, juice of
- 2 Tbsp. Almond syrup
- 2 Tbsp. Yogurt
- 6 ounce -Cool water, 3/4 c
- To serve, put a few Tbsp.
- in a glass and add in cool or possibly sparkling water and ice.
- Bring water to a boil; add in almonds and return to a boil.
- Remove from heat and allow to cold thoroughly.
- Squeeze the grnd almonds in several layers of rinsed cheesecloth.
- Pour almond extract into a saucepan; add in sugar, bitter almond extract, and orange juice.
- Stir well and bring to a boil; cook to a thick syrup consistency.
- Let cold completely.
- If syrup if not thick sufficient, boil again for 5 min.
- Pour into sterile bottles, seal and chill.
- Can be used immediately Serve with ice water or possibly with club soda.
- FOR 1 SERVING ALMOND COOLER:Combine a2 tb almond syrup, 2 tb yogurt and 6 ounce (3/4 c.) cool water.
