Date-Walnut Turnovers
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 (8-ounce) package (1 1/2 cups) chopped dates
- 1/4 cup Land O Lakes Butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1 (17.3-ounce) package frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed
- Ice cream or Land O Lakes Heavy Whipping Cream, whipped, if desired
- Heat oven to 400F.
- Place walnuts and dates in food processor bowl fitted with metal blade.
- Cover; process 1 minute or until finely chopped.
- Add butter, flour, sugar and cardamom; process 30-60 seconds or until well mixed.
- Roll out each sheet of puff pastry on lightly floured surface into 10 1/2-inch square.
- Cut each into nine (3 1/2-inch) squares.
- Divide date mixture evenly among squares.
- (If necessary, brush edges lightly with water before sealing.)
- Starting with one corner, fold each square diagonally in half to form triangle.
- Seal edges together with fork.
- Place turnovers onto ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake 12-15 minutes or until turnovers are lightly browned.
- Top with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
