Soft Gingerbread

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F.
  2. Grease and lightly flour the baking pan.
  3. Put the sugar, molasses, oil, and eggs in a mixing bowl and beat until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, combine the salt, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, flour, and baking soda and stir with a fork until well mixed.
  5. Stir into the first mixture.
  6. Add the boiling water and beat briskly until smooth.
  7. This is a thin batter.
  8. Pour into the pan and bake 40 to 45 minutes.
  9. Serve warm.
