Basil Lemonade
- 4 to 5 Lemons
- 500 ml Carbonated water
- 1 good amount Ice cubes
- 4 to 5 stalks Basil (with stems)
- 100 ml White sugar
- 100 ml Water
- Thoroughly rinse the basil, then cut the stalk in half lengthways.
- Combine the sugar, water, and basil in a small saucepan and heat on medium.
- When the sugar dissolves and the water starts to boil, remove from the heat, and let sit for about 3 minutes.
- Strain in a colander, then chill in the refrigerator.
- (You should have 150 ml of syrup.)
- Squeeze the lemons, and remove the seeds.
- It's actually quite tasty if a little of the pulp gets into the juice.
- Put the ice in a pitcher, slowly pour in the lemon juice, basil syrup, and carbonated water and stir.
- Pour into individual cups.
