Basil Lemonade

  1. Thoroughly rinse the basil, then cut the stalk in half lengthways.
  2. Combine the sugar, water, and basil in a small saucepan and heat on medium.
  3. When the sugar dissolves and the water starts to boil, remove from the heat, and let sit for about 3 minutes.
  4. Strain in a colander, then chill in the refrigerator.
  5. (You should have 150 ml of syrup.)
  6. Squeeze the lemons, and remove the seeds.
  7. It's actually quite tasty if a little of the pulp gets into the juice.
  8. Put the ice in a pitcher, slowly pour in the lemon juice, basil syrup, and carbonated water and stir.
  9. Pour into individual cups.
