Baked Mostaccioli
- 1 cup uncooked mostaccioli pasta
- 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 2 Italian sausages, removed from casing
- 2 Tbsp. each of chopped onion and green pepper
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 cup canned tomatoes, cut up
- 3 oz. tomato paste
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tsp. dried basil leaves
- 1/2 tsp. chili powder
- 1/2 tsp. red pepper
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. oregano
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 8 oz. ricotta cheese
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
- Cook noodles, drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, combine meat, pepper, onion and garlic and cook until meat is done.
- Drain and add all remaining ingredients except egg and cheeses.
- Bring meat sauce to a boil and reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 20 -25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Combine eggs and cheeses.
- To assemble, stir pasta into meat sauce.
- Place 1/2 in a 1 quart buttered baking dish and spread cheese mixture evenly over top. Top with remaining pasta and bake at 350 degrees for 30 -35 minutes.
