Spaghetti with Sweet Italian Turkey Sausage
- 1 package (19 1/2 Oz. Size) Jenni-O Sweet Italian Turkey Sausage Links
- 1 jar (24 Oz. Size) Your Favorite Spaghetti Sauce, Any Flavor
- 3/4 cups Water
- 1 can (14 1/2 Oz. Size) Diced Tomatoes
- 2 Tablespoons Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoons Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoons Garlic Powder
- 2 teaspoons Onion Powder
- 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
- 2 Tablespoons Dried Parsley
- 2 leaves Bay Leaves
- 1 package (13 1/4 Oz. Size) Whole Wheat Spaghetti Noodles
- 2 Tablespoons Parmesan Cheese (or To Taste)
- 1 teaspoon Fresh Cracked Pepper, Or To Taste
- Remove casing from turkey sausages and place the meat in a large frying pan over medium heat.
- Discard the casings.
- Break up the sausage with a spatula as it cooks.
- Brown and cook thoroughly over medium heat.
- Into the frying pan with the cooked turkey sausage add the spaghetti sauce, water, diced tomatoes, sugar, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, parsley and bay leaves.
- Stir and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Then reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Cook the spaghetti noodles according to the package instructions then drain and set aside.
- Tip: Use tasty whole grain pasta to add more fiber and nutrition than regular spaghetti noodles.
- To serve: Remove bay leaves from sauce.
- Put approximately one cup of whole wheat spaghetti noodles on a plate and top with approximately 1 cup of sauce.
- Sprinkle with Parmesan and fresh cracked pepper, if desired.
