Creamy Mashed Potatoes

  1. Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat; add garlic, and saute until tender.
  2. Remove from saucepan.
  3. Set aside.
  4. Prepare mashed potatoes in saucepan according to package directions, using 2 1/3 cups milk and stirring with a wire whisk.
  5. Stir in garlic mixture, salt, and pepper.
  6. Let potatoes stand 5 minutes before serving.
  7. I add some cayenne pepper and a little bit of shredded cheese to the potatoes.
  8. It was really good.
