Red Velvet Cake

  1. Cream shortening and sugar together.
  2. Add eggs, coca, food coloring and vanilla, beat.
  3. Stir in mixture of flour and salt alternately with buttermilk.
  4. Mix soda and vinegar, quickly stir into mixture, while still foaming.
  5. Pour into two 8 inch layer pans or 13x9x2 inch pan.
  6. Bake at 350F (180C).
  7. for 25 to 35 minutes.
  8. For the frosting, combine flour and milk, cook until thickened, cool.
  9. Add butter, sugar and vanilla beat well.
