Orange Pecan Cake Recipe

  1. Cake Directions:
  2. Cream butter and sugar; beat in eggs one at a time.
  3. Dissolve soda in buttermilk
  4. Add sifted flour to the butter mixture in about 3 parts alternately with buttermilk and soda.
  5. Beat the batter until it is smooth after each addition.
  6. Add orange rind and nuts, mix well.
  7. Bake in a tube pan 1 & A 1/2 hours at 325A degrees .
  8. Sauce Directions:
  9. Mix the sauce ingredients and heat making sure the sugar is dissolved.
  10. When cake is done make holes all over the cake using a toothpick or ice pick.
  11. Loosen sides of cake with a knife so the sauce goes all over the cake top and sides.
  12. Mix the sauce and heat before pouring over the cake as it will dissolve better.
  13. Pour sauce over in small amounts until all the sauce is used.
  14. Cake should stand overnight before cutting.
