Momma's Homemade Dumplings for CHICKEN and DUMPLINGS

  1. mix all dry ingredients together... you can sift them together if you like....
  2. add broth ... 1 cup .... and then add the other 1/2 cup a little at a time... u may not need it all..
  3. Mix until it makes a ball of dough....
  4. I wrap mine in plastic wrap.... put it in Ziploc bag and refrigerate...
  5. I make it about 2-3 days before the holiday.. when your ready sit out dough for about 30 minutes and let it get room temp..

  7. cut the dough evenly into.3 pieces.....
  8. lightly flour your work surface and rub your rolling pin with flour
  9. roll the dough out to 1/4" thick..... dust lightly with flour....cut dough into square dumplings..
  10. **** to freeze put a piece of wax paper on a cookie sheet... put dumplings on the wax paper ..... lay a piece of wax paper on the top.and then lay another single layer of dumplings .. .
  11. keep repeating this procedure... mine sometime is 4-5 layers high....
  12. roll out more dough.... and our on wax paper ..... do this til ALL THE DOUGH....is rolled out.

  14. I only do 1/3 of the dough at a time because it is easier to.handle....
  15. LAY A SHEET OF WAXPAPER ON THE TOP TO KEEP DUMPLINGS FROM DRYING OUT WHILE THEY FREEZE....

  17. I make these and freeze for the holidays...
  18. after frozen I put the dumplings in a freezer bag..... sprinkle flour lightly on top of dumplings and shake freezer bag until lightly coated...

  21. put 1 cup of cold chicken broth in reserve
  22. heat the remainder of the FLAVOFUL CHICKEN BROTH ..... add cream of chicken soup.
  23. bring to a boil..... add dumplings...ONE AT A TIME....or they will stick into a mess!!!

  25. take 2 TBSP of flour and mix in broth u left reserved should be cold....mix with fork until flour is dissolved.... add to hot dumplings.... stir to thinken let cook for 10 minutes... dumplings should be done...
  26. **** again because of my impairment I make dumplings by large batches and freeze......
  27. I feed a family of 4..... two times with this dumpling recipe....
  28. only use about 1/2 of the batch of the dumplings for a family of 4....
