Date Loaf
- 34 cup boiling water
- 1 cup sliced pitted dates
- 14 cup butter
- 1 egg
- 34 cup milk
- 12 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 12 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup nuts (optional)
- 13 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 12 teaspoon salt (optional)
- Preheat oven 350F.
- Grease loaf pan.
- Sprinkle a little with oats.
- In bow pour boiling water over dates.
- Beat egg and milk.
- Mix dry ingredients well.
- Add dates and wet ingredients.
- Mix just until blended.
- Pour in lof pan.
- Bake for about 1 hour or a little longer.
- Cool in pan.
