Sesame Cookies

  1. In large bowl, cream shortening, sugar and brown sugar until fluffy.
  2. Add egg and almond extract; beat until well blended.
  3. Sift flour with salt and baking powder.
  4. Add to creamed mixture.
  5. Mix well to shape each cookie; press a ball of dough between your palms to make a 2-inch round.
  6. In a small bowl beat egg yolks with water. Brush egg yolk mixture on one side of each round, then dip coated side in sesame seed.
  7. Place cookies 2-inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet, seeded side up.
  8. Press down gently on each ball. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until lightly browned at 350u0b0.
  9. Transfer cookies to wire rack and let them cool completely.
  10. Makes 60 cookies.
