Sausage and Kraut Casserole
- 28 ounces, weight Can Of Sauerkraut
- 1 pound Smoked Sausage
- 8 ounces, weight Monterey Jack Cheese
- 13 cups Canned Bread Crumbs (Italian Or Plain)
- 16 ounces, weight Frozen White Or Yellow Corn
- 4 cups Mashed Potatoes
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Drain sauerkraut.
- Spread sauerkraut in a 9x13 glass baking dish.
- Slice sausage in half lengthwise, then into 1/2-inch pieces.
- (You can slice the sausage however you like, really, but I prefer smaller bites.)
- Spread sausage over the sauerkraut and stir gently to mix together.
- Spread cheese evenly over the kraut/sausage mix.
- Sprinkle bread crumbs evenly over the cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for 10 more minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let sit for about 5 minutes before serving.
- Best served with mashed potatoes and corn.
- We like to put the potatoes on the plate, then the corn, then the casserole on top, but if youre not a mixer, you can eat it however you like.
