Spicy Brussels Sprouts with Garlic and Bacon

  1. Wash sprouts, remove stems and cut in half.
  2. Add water or chicken stock to sprouts, cover and microwave-steam for 3 minutes.
  3. Set aside
  4. Cut bacon into small bite sized pieces.
  5. Add to a large skillet and cook on med-high for 2-3mins.
  6. Add garlic, diced chili pepper, and olive oil to bacon.
  7. Cook for another minute.
  8. Be careful to not burn garlic.
  9. Drain steamed sprouts and add to skillet.
  10. Coat sprouts with oil thoroughly.
  11. Add balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper and red pepper flakes.
  12. Sautee sprouts for 6-8 minutes, allowing them to slightly char/brown and caramelize.
  13. Serve immediately.
