Pasta 101 How to Cook Perfect Pasta Every Time
- 1 gallon Cold Water
- 4- 1/2 teaspoons Kosher Salt
- 1 pound Dry Pasta
- To cook one pound of dried pasta: In a 6 quart stockpot, bring 1 gallon of cold water to a boil.
- Add 4 1/2 teaspoons Kosher salt (1 ounce or 30 grams).
- Add pasta; stir.
- Allow water to return to a boil; stirring pasta occasionally.
- Start tasting the pasta a couple of minutes before the time given on the package directions.
- Properly cooked should give slightly when you bite into it.
- Once done, drain and serve with your favorite pasta dish.
