Calzone Pinwheels Recipe
- 1 x (16-oz) package warm roll mix
- 1/3 c. pizza sauce
- 1 c. shredded pizza cheese or possibly mozzarella cheese (4 ounces)
- 1/2 c. minced pepperoni (about 2 1/2 ounces)
- 1/4 c. minced, pitted ripe olives
- 1 x 2-1/(2-oz) jar sliced mushrooms, well liquid removed and minced Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Prepare warm roll mix according to package directions.
- After the resting step, divide dough in half.
- Roll one half of dough on a lightly floured surface into a 16 x 10 inch rectangle.
- Spread with half of the pizza sauce.
- Combine cheese, pepperoni, olives, and mushrooms; sprinkle half of mix over pizza sauce.
- Roll up, jelly-roll style, starting from one of the long sides.
- Healthy pinch edges to seal.
- Cut roll into sixteen 1 inch slices.
- Place cut side down in a well greased 9 x 1 1/2 inch round baking pan.
- Repeat with remaining dough, pizza sauce, and cheese mix.
- Sprinkle lightly with Parmesan cheese, if you like.
- Cover and let rise in a hot place about 1 hour or possibly until nearly double in size.
- Bake in a 375 degree F. oven about 20 min or possibly until golden.
- Cold slightly.
- Remove from pan.
- Serve hot.
- Makes 32 servings
