Pita Pizzas with Sauteed Apples and Bacon
- 1 whole Granny Smith Apple, Cored And Sliced
- 1/2 whole Red Onion, Sliced
- 1/4 cups Demerara Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoons Cinnamon
- 1 whole Pinch Of Cloves
- 1/4 teaspoons Ground Ginger
- 3/4 teaspoons Crushed Chili Pepper Flakes
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 4 cloves Garlic, Minced, Divided
- 1 Tablespoon Butter
- 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
- 2 whole Pita Breads
- 4 slices Bacon, Cooked Until Crispy Then Crumbled
- 3/4 cups Cheddar Cheese, Shredded
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- Place the onion and apple in a large bowl.
- Add sugar, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, chili pepper flakes, salt and 2 cloves of garlic.
- Toss to coat.
- Melt butter and 1 Tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.
- Add apple and onion mixture and saute until the apples are tender.
- About five minutes.
- Remove from heat and set aside.
- Brush the pitas with the rest of the olive oil and sprinkle with the remainder of the garlic.
- Top pitas with apples and onions and sprinkle with cheese and bacon.
- Bake in the oven for five minutes then turn the oven to broil (keeping a close eye on them) for 1-2 minutes.
- Slice into quarters and serve.
