Bhuna Khichuri
- 2 cup Basmati rice
- 2 cup Lentils/Mung Daal
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp tumeric
- 1 tsp Ghee/margarine
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 each bay leaves
- 3 each red chili
- 2 each green chili
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 2 tsp ginger paste
- 2 small tomatoes
- Wash Lentils and Rice first.
- In a dry pan lightly roast the Lentils.
- Add the rice.
- Add equal amount of water.
- So for 2 cups of rice and 2 cups of lentils add 4 cups of water.
- Heat to boil and cover pot
- Add chili power, tumeric powder and salt and stir and let it cook in low heat
- In another pan heat the ghee or margarine which is used for the unique smell, add the rest of the ingredients until chopped tomatoes are slightly mushy
- Add the rice and lentils mixture and stir and mix.
- Garnish with coriander.
- Serve hot
