Poppy Seed Bread With Green Onions And Cheese
- 1 3/4 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 1/3 c. cold butter
- 1 c. grated Swiss cheese
- 3 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/3 c. chopped, green onions
- 1 Tbsp. poppy seed
- 1 c. milk
- 1 egg
- In the large bowl of the electric mixer, beat together first 5 ingredients until butter is the size of small peas.
- Beat in the next 4 ingredients until blended.
- Beat milk and egg, then add to the bowl, stirring until dry ingredients are just moistened.
- Do not overbeat.
- Pour into oiled 8 x 4-inch loaf pan and bake in a 350u0b0 oven for 45 to 55 minutes or until top is golden brown and a cake tester inserted in center comes out clean.
- (If top is browning too quickly, then tent loosely with foil.)
- Cool 10 minutes, then remove from pan and continue cooling on a rack. Yields one loaf.
