German Fajitas

  2. Melt a little olive oil in a deep skillet and heat fajita strips (or cook until nice and brown if using fresh steaks).
  3. Remove meat and set aside.

  5. In the same skillet, saute onion until it starts to turn clear.
  6. Add the rest of the vegetables.
  7. Saute until tender.
  8. 3.
  9. Add spices and meat; mix well.
  10. (You can tweak the spices any way you like.
  11. We tend to up the spices when using fresh steaks, and use less steak seasoning when using frozen fajitas.)
  12. 4.
  13. Slice bread into thick slices.
  14. (Good dark bread like rye or pumpernickel is best!)
  15. Serve meat mixture over bread and top with cream cheese or creme fraiche.
  16. OR, to make things even better, toss the cream cheese in when you add the spices and meat and mix it all together.
  17. Serve with sparkling mineral water to get the real German experience.
  18. Delicious!
