Cardamon Bread
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- 4 Tbsp. margarine
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. crushed cardamon seed
- 7 to 8 c. flour as needed
- Sprinkle yeast into warm water with 1 tablespoon sugar; set aside 5 to 10 minutes or until foamy.
- Scald milk and add remaining sugar, margarine and salt.
- When margarine has melted, remove from heat, cool to lukewarm and add spices.
- Combine with yeast mixture and gradually stir in enough flour to make a stiff dough.
- Knead for 10 minutes or until dough is smooth and elastic. Place in greased bowl, turn to grease bottom and cover.
- Let set 1 1/2 hours or until elastic and smooth.
- Place in baking pan which has been buttered or oiled.
- Let rise 1/2 hour.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 30 to 45 minutes.
