Upma (North Indian Style)
- 1 cup durum semolina flour (rava)
- 1/2 cup onions finely chopped
- 1/4 cup tomatoes chopped
- 2 each green chili peppers
- 1/4 cup peas, frozen or fresh, boiled
- 1 x peanuts optional
- 1/2 cup curd cheese
- 1 x salt to taste
- 1 cup water up to 2 cups
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil up to 2 tablespoon
- 1/2 tablespoon mustard seeds
- 1 x cilantro coriander leaves, (dhania), for garnishing
- Fry the rava in kadhai without oil only for a minute.
- Keep aside.
- Put oil in kadaai.
- Temper mustard seeds.
- Add Peanuts.
- Add onions and fry until golden brown.
- Now add chopped green chillies and tomatoes and fry well.
- Now add the peas.
- Now add curd.
- Now add 1 or 2 cups of water to it.
- Add salt and mix well.
- Now add rava to it slowly and stir well with other hand so as to prevent forming lumps.
- Close with a lid and let it boil for a minute.
- Stir well.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve hot.
