King-Size Gingersnaps
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1/2 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 3 tsp. soda
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1/2 c. light molasses
- granulated sugar
- Start heating oven to 350u0b0.
- Sift flour with salt, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and baking soda.
- Cream shortening until light and fluffy, gradually add 1 cup sugar.
- Blend in egg and molasses, then stir in flour mixture until well blended.
- Shape dough into 1 1/2-inch balls; roll in granulated sugar.
- Place 3-inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Flatten with a bottom of a glass dipped in sugar.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes.
- Let stand a minute before removing from cookie sheets.
- Makes 36 (2 1/2-inch) cookies.
