King-Size Gingersnaps

  1. Start heating oven to 350u0b0.
  2. Sift flour with salt, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and baking soda.
  3. Cream shortening until light and fluffy, gradually add 1 cup sugar.
  4. Blend in egg and molasses, then stir in flour mixture until well blended.
  5. Shape dough into 1 1/2-inch balls; roll in granulated sugar.
  6. Place 3-inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  7. Flatten with a bottom of a glass dipped in sugar.
  8. Bake 8 to 10 minutes.
  9. Let stand a minute before removing from cookie sheets.
  10. Makes 36 (2 1/2-inch) cookies.
