Sesame Wheat Bread

  1. In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in water.
  2. Add milk, honey, shortening, salt, egg, sesame seeds, whole wheat flour, and 1 1/2 cups flour.
  3. Beat until smooth.
  4. Stir in enough remaining all-purpose flour to form a stiff dough.
  5. Turn onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes.
  6. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
  7. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  8. Punch dough down.
  9. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide in half.
  10. Shape into loaves.
  11. Place into two greased 9-inch x 5-inch x 3-inch loaf pans.
  12. Brush with butter or margarine, sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  13. Cove and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes.
  14. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.
  15. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool.
