Curly Crunchy Fried Dough

  1. First make the syrup.
  2. Put the ingredients for the syrup in a small pan, and heat until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Transfer to a bowl and let cool.
  4. Put the pancake mix, egg and milk into a bowl and mix until smooth.
  5. The batter is ready.
  6. Transfer the batter into an empty dressing bottle (the one in the photo has a small nozzle).
  7. If you don't have one, use a piping bag with a small nozzle.
  8. Squeeze the batter into oil which has been heated to about 170C.
  9. They should be swirls, going round 2 or 3 times.
  10. Slowly deep fry until golden brown.
  11. As soon as they have been fried, dip them in the syrup you made earlier.
  12. Transfer to a serving dish.
