Bistecca Alla Pizzaiola
- 3 to 4 T-bone steaks
- 1 extra virgin olive oil
- 1 sea salt
- 1 freshly ground black pepper
- 3/4 cup white wine
- 500 to 750 ml good quality tomato pasta sauce. I use Leggos bolognaise tomato, garlic and herbs
- 1 tbsp chilli flakes
- 2 tbsp fresh oregano leaves
- Heat a large frying pan over high heat.
- Drizzle both sides of the steak with olive oil, spreading with your fingers and season well with the salt and pepper
- Cook the steaks on one side for a few minutes until brown, turn over and repeat and then remove steak from pan and set aside
- Add the wine into the hot pan stirring for 1 minute to reduce slightly.
- Stir in the pasta sauce, chilli flakes and oregano.
- Place the steaks back into the pan, reduce the heat and cook for a further 5 minutes, turning once only.
- Plate up steaks, smothering them in the sauce and serve with vegies and hot dinner rolls to mop the sauce up
