Tomato Catsup

  1. take 1/2 bushel tomatoes cut up in small pieces.
  2. cook strain
  3. and to each gallon juice add 1 pint vinegar.
  4. 2 tablespoons salt.
  5. 1 small cup sugar.
  6. 1 level teasppon red pepper
  7. 1 heaping teaspoon ground mustard
  8. cinnamon cloves and allspice
  9. tie spices in cloth
  10. remove when done
  11. cooking 2 hours
  12. then add 1/2 cup cornstarch(this is where i think the recipe gets hinky , i think its 2 much cornstarch for each gallon
  13. and then cook 15 minutes more
  14. bottle and seal.

tomato juice, vinegar, salt, sugar, red pepper, ground mustard, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, cornstarch
