Meat Sauce For Spaghetti
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound beef ground
- 1 pound pork ground
- 1 each onions chopped
- 1/2 each green bell peppers chopped
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 5 cups tomatoes, canned crushed
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 2 teaspoons basil leaves - ground
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves ground
- 3 each bay leaves
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add beef, pork, onion, green pepper, and garlic and saute until browned, about 10 minutes.
- With a slotted spoon to drain off the fat, place the sauteed ingredients in a 4 quart saucepan.
- Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.
- Slowly bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 2 hours.
